Lawn Care: Involving The Whole Family In Caring For Your Lawn
Lawn care can be a good activity for the whole family. Getting your kids involve in keeping your lawn clean and healthy can be a good way to teach them some lessons on responsibility. Furthermore, doing lawn care with your kids is a good way to build a healthy and fun relationship with your kids. Note that kids naturally love to help their parents do some task especially outdoors. If you make it appear to your kids that lawn care is like a fun game to play, they will be more than happy to help you work around the lawn.
Getting Organized
Getting the whole family involved in caring for your lawn can be quite tricky especially if you are one of those people who are always busy with your work. To make sure that the whole family knows when and what to do, you should call the whole family for a meeting and discuss the issue of lawn care schedules and tasks. Try to work around a schedule that is favorable to you and do not promises your kids that you might have trouble keeping later on.
When doing lawn care with your children, give each child a task to perform. For instance, when it is time to plant the grass on your lawn, you can ask your children to help you pick up the seeds from the garden store. If your children are old enough to help you sow the grass seeds, it would be a good idea for you to ask for their help in this task. Not only will it be more fun to have your kids help you, it will also help you accomplish the task faster. However, when it comes to putting fertilizers, you should be very careful about letting your kids handle these things especially if you use chemical fertilizers. Unless they are old enough to do so, never let your kids handle any chemical fertilizers.
When it comes to lawn care that involves handling equipments like the lawn mower, keep the small children away from this task. Never even let your small children touch the lawn mower without very close supervision because lawnmowers can be quite dangerous to small children. If your small children insist on helping you mow the lawn, you can let them sit on your shoulders for a few minutes and ask them to give you directions while to push the lawn mower across the lawn. Since small children can get quite heavy after a few minutes, sit them down or bring them inside the house where they can be safe while you continue doing your task.
