A Guide to Proper Lawnmower Care
In order to keep your lawnmower in the best working condition as possible for as long as possible, there are a few lawnmower care tips in particular that you are going to want to know about. By learning and understanding about these tips, you will be more informed and knowledgeable on lawnmower care in general and thus will be able to take proper care of your own.
Basic Lawnmower Care Tips
One of the most important things to remember here is that you want to always use fresh gas. Fresh gas is critical the engines performance and to fill the mowers tank, you want to use a clean funnel to draw gasoline from the gas can, and plastic gas cans are an especially good choice because they will not rust.
Checking the engine oil is also very important, and you want to drain the engine oil and replace it with clean SAE 30 engine oil after every 50 hours or so of operation. Also make sure to check the lubrication section of your mowers owners manual, looking for any specific oil recommendations.
Replacing the spark plug is also an important part to proper lawnmower care, and you want to be sure to replace the spark plug after every 100 hours of operation, and the specific spark plug type and gap that you are going to require should be found in the product specifications section of the owners manual.
The air filter is another crucial part of the lawnmower and so you need to take proper care of it as well. If the mowers air filter is dirty, then what is going to happen is the engine may not run properly and may even get damaged from this. You want to service the air filter on the mower after every 25 hours of operation or so, and all you have to do is remove the air filter cartridge and then gently tap it on a flat surface. Basically, if the filter is dirty you will see dirt fall out from it and know that you have to get a new one.
Another important step in proper lawnmower care is in regards to blade care. You need to keep the blades on your lawnmower sharp if you want to have the best results on your lawn, and although lawnmower blades can be sharpened with a file or a grinder wheel, you never want to try to sharpen them while they are still on the mower, for safety reasons.
By taking these and any other effective lawnmower care tips into consideration, you will be able to develop and maintain a healthy and beautiful lawn, something which you will be incredibly proud of and eager to show off.
