Note that grass can easily turn brown or yellow during the summer so it would be best to leave your grass tall during this time. Taller grasses tend to have larger root structure which can ensure enough water and nutrient intake. Furthermore, tall grass will provide shade for the seeds and will help ensure the survival of these seeds during the intense summer heat.
If you have to put fertilizer on your lawn, use only organic fertilizer. There are many types of organic fertilizer sold in the market today so select a good brand and then apply it on your lawn during the fall and spring. Do not apply fertilizer during the summer. Fertilizer can only add more heat into your grass and may cause more damage than good.
When it comes to pest control, forget about using chemical insecticides to get rid of the infestations in your lawn. Organic lawn care means absolutely no chemicals are allowed in your lawn so get rid of that chemical pesticide. If your lawn is infested with bugs, plant shrubs, put a bird bath or bird house on your lawn to attract bug eating birds. You may also use non-toxic and non-chemical based pest control products. There are plenty of organic pest control products in the market today so you need not worry about finding something to control the infestations in your lawn.
